To experiment in Darkness, you need to know Light!
You need to be overcome by light, exhausted by the power of light to want rest from it, to seek to breathe in a different place, to have different perceptions and different dreams, to go to a place that will forget imagined versions of truth or the banal packaging of mainstream cultural truths.
It is a sacred practice we use, striving to put multiple truths in perspective, choosing the process of navigating varied discourses of imagery and emotive realities. Once ''darkness'' has been experienced ''light'' comes back during a transition where a deep feeling of fullfillment is felt. The time for acceptance flows from fullfillment. Darkness fades out of immediate consciousness yet is still present in peripheral cognizance. The acceptance of this change in tone is itself a mediator back towards even brighter light. We must accept that the only static universal truth is change.
This is our meditation. What occurs during this meditative consciousness-expansion is a metaphor for the ebbs and flows of life through light and dark.
The space of meditation is neither light nor dark, but a space of tonal balance. Music can be a catalyst to receiving the gifts of both light and dark worlds and exists as a meditative aid. In our genre we choose to experience sound as a metaphor in life for the constant process in which organisms wrestle and take pleasure, to flash and thrive colorfully in everchanging lights and darks.

In his first Release on D.M.T. Records, ''Phases - Original Mix,'' Nokken puts you in a physically cold but metaphysically heartwarming place. The listener identifies with a being walking slowly through the forest while light pierces through the natural landscape. Creatures of past experiences are forced to fade out and new characters are summoned to rise up from the dark, activated by warm light. This track is a froggy, organic vision conjuring a lively swampish world. The forest is symbolic of the state where our human computer seeks balance, gradually flying between the subconscious swamp to the conscious, where pieces of the self of the living creature are mixed. Perhaps this dreamstate is between subjective and objective perception, where one is conscious one is dreaming; not asleep yet not existing in waking life.
